ANNES- France — In the opening scene of “The Clouds of Sils Maria”, presented at the end of the 67th Cannes Festival last Friday, Kristen Stewart’s character, Val, is clearly stressed-out. As the train snakes up the winding mountain route of the Swiss Alps, Val is juggling with her multiple jangling cell phones, cursing the bad connection, and trying to deal with the barrage of undesirable media, pestering directors and dramatic news that will dramatically change her entire schedule.
In the film, Stewart plays the part of a low-key bespectacled personal assistant to the glamorous Maria Enders, a fortyish famous actress, brilliantly portrayed by Juliette Binoche. It’s Val’s job to arrange every infinitesimal detail, from making sure that Maria is on time for her Chanel gown fittings to endlessly walking the actress through the lines of her script.

Interviste ad Olivier Assayas dove parla di Kris

CANNES, France — Olivier Assayas says moviegoers will see Kristen Stewart like they've never seen her before in his Cannes entry "Clouds of Sils Maria."
"It's really something that you have not seen her in," says Assayas. "She's warm, funny, witty."
The film, which debuts Friday at Cannes, stars Juliette Binoche as a popular actress who's shattered by the competition of a young rival (Chloe Grace Moretz). She and her assistant (played by Stewart) withdraw to Sils Maria, Switzerland. For both Assayas, the French director of the Carlos the Jackal miniseries "Carlos" and the family drama "Summer Hours," and Stewart, it's an atypical collaboration connecting European art house and Hollywood.
"Actors are actors," says Assayas. "They are more or less the same in any culture."
Stewart was first suggested by "Sils Maria" producer Charles Gillibert, who produced the Jack Kerouac adaptation "On the Road" — which brought Stewart to Cannes two years ago. The "Twilight" star was unavailable, so Assayas and producers then cast Mia Wasikowska. But Wasikowska had to drop out, at which point Stewart's schedule opened up.
"Kristen, whatever image one has of her, ultimately she's just a great actress by any standard," says Assayas. "I was just completely amazed by the range of Kristen. I'm so honored to be working with her at this moment when she's blossoming."

Equals, scritto da Nathan Parker e diretto da Drake Doremus, parla di una giovane coppia che si ribella contro la società (Kris e Nicholas).

Trama:
Silas (Hoult) vive in una società futuristica chiamata The Collective. Gli abitanti sono una specie evoluta di essere umano chiamati Equals. Sono una popolazione calma, educata, democratica e di indole pacifica.. che permette loro una vita perfetta, senza brama, povertà, violenza e soprattutto niente emzioni. Ma una nuova malattia sta mettendo tutti in pericolo: SOS (Switched-On-Syndrome), sta attivando in loro tutto ciò che avevano abolito, depressione, sensibilità, paura, amore... una volta che si contrae tale malattia si è confinati permanentemente nel "The Den".
Quando Silas viene infettato, viene escluso dalla società, fino a quando non nota una persona che sembra capire costa sta passando. Nia (Kristen) prova dei sentimenti, ma sembra essere in grado di nasconderli. Quando lui decide di confrontarsi con lei, scoprono di avere una connessione che presto ha il sopravvento su tutto il resto. Si innamorano e scoprono l'intimità per la prima volta, ma l'unico modo per sopravvivere è trovare il modo di fuggire.
