“What if Jason Bourne had been a stoner?” That’s the (absurd) question at the heart of American Ultra, the upcoming film starring Jesse Eisenberg (Batman V Superman) as Mike Howell, a typical stoner slacker convenience store clerk, who suddenly finds himself the target of a CIA op to erase highly-trained sleeper agents. Turns out Mike is one of those agents – a surprise to him, as much as anybody. When his girlfriend Phoebe (Kristen Stewart) gets caught up in the crossfire, Mike decides it’s time to push through the haze and save the day.

Last summer, Screen Rant was included in a handful of online journalists that were invited to the New Orleans set of American Ultra (a title that references the famous CIA “MKUltra” program). There, we got to dine and chat with director Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and writer Max Landis (Chronicle), as well interviewing stars Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, who play Mike Howell (a stoner who doesn’t know he’s actually a Bourne-style sleeper agent) and his stoner girlfriend, Phoebe. Both Eisenberg and Stewart shared what it was like to get this high-octane script from Chronicle writer Max Landis, what it’s like playing stoners, and being two unlikely candidates for a summer action movie.

TOKYO – “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart denied any romantic attachment with “X-Men” hunk Nicholas Hoult, as the two appeared in Tokyo ahead of production on indie sci-fi drama “Equals.”
Hot indie director Drake Doremus (“Breathe In”) and producers Michael Pruss and Ann Ruark were also on hand to field questions Saturday at a Tokyo hotel.
“I can’t stand him,” Stewart joked, when asked about her feelings for her co-star. No mention was made of a sushi meal, widely reported by online gossip sites, that a fellow diner had snapped them sharing the night before.
“It’s always a weird position to be put in any film where the director chooses two people and is saying ‘Hey, potentially in this world I’m creating you two could fall in love,'” Hoult explained.

The screams of teenage girls could be heard for miles as Robert Pattinson hit the Los Angeles Regency Bruin Theatre on Thursday night at the U.S. premiere of The Rover.
The British star, donned in a navy blue Alexander McQueen suit, hit the red carpet with writer and director David Michod, producers David Linde and Liz Watts, and costar Guy Pearce for the film's Los Angeles debut.
Made famous for his leading role in the Twilight saga, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter that he is not confining his career to a specific genre. "I’m not really trying to break out of anything. I feel like every single movie I’ve done is part of the same road. I’m not trying to distance myself of anything particularly," Pattinson said. "I just hope people like [the film]."

ANNES- France — In the opening scene of “The Clouds of Sils Maria”, presented at the end of the 67th Cannes Festival last Friday, Kristen Stewart’s character, Val, is clearly stressed-out. As the train snakes up the winding mountain route of the Swiss Alps, Val is juggling with her multiple jangling cell phones, cursing the bad connection, and trying to deal with the barrage of undesirable media, pestering directors and dramatic news that will dramatically change her entire schedule.
In the film, Stewart plays the part of a low-key bespectacled personal assistant to the glamorous Maria Enders, a fortyish famous actress, brilliantly portrayed by Juliette Binoche. It’s Val’s job to arrange every infinitesimal detail, from making sure that Maria is on time for her Chanel gown fittings to endlessly walking the actress through the lines of her script.
